WPU Announces Courageous Gift From Fenwick Foundation

Raleigh, NC (04/08/2022) — The Fenwick Foundation courageously gave a gift that is part of the "22 Courageous Gifts in 2022" giving campaign - a campus-wide fundraising initiative at William Peace University (WPU). Donors, like the Fenwick Foundation, support this initiative by making a courageous commitment that provides our students with the resources they need to learn through immersive experiences, build upon their courage and develop the confidence needed to turn their passion into purpose. These gifts will shape both the future of our university and our students. To learn more or to donate visit 22 in 2022.

WPU is excited to announce a courageous gift, thanks to the generosity of the Fenwick Foundation and Stuart and Tricia Phoenix.

The gift will support on-campus capital projects and improvements, said Stuart, a current Board of Trustees member. Whether it is air conditioning updates or creating new patio spaces, Stuart hopes the gift will have a long-lasting impact on the University.

"I have confidence in the school and the leadership to put this gift to use," Stuart said. "This gift gives leadership the discretion to use it where it is necessary."

He wants this gift to have the flexibility to support campus as needed and at the discretion of the University President.

"We are incredibly grateful for the Fenwick Foundation's courageous commitment to WPU," said Dr. Brian C. Ralph, WPU President. "I am honored by the confidence their gift demonstrates in the University and its leadership."

Stuart and Tricia are long-standing friends and supporters of WPU with generations of family ties to the University. Stuart's mother, grandmother and several of his aunts attended either Peace Institute or Peace College. Stuart has also served on the Board of Trustees from 2008-13 and the Board of Visitors from 2005-08.

"WPU is a hidden treasure, right in downtown Raleigh. It's a great local school," Stuart said.
