WPU Hires New Vice President for University Advancement
Raleigh, NC (10/17/2022) — RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace University (WPU) has hired a new Vice President for University Advancement, officials said today.
DeShanna Brown, ED.D., will join the leadership team on October 24, 2022.
Brown is a Higher Education Consultant in Human and Institutional Capacity Development, Leadership and Development, and Alumni Operations. She is currently partnering with Elizabeth City State University to develop a strategic corporate and foundation relations strategy.
Previously, Brown has served as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Development, Marketing, and Communications at Edward Waters College. Other past roles include the Director of Development for the Division of Student Affairs at Louisiana State University and the Director of Annual Giving at Spelman College.
The Vice President is responsible for leading a team that focuses on enhancing philanthropic support for the University. This includes building relationships inside and outside the WPU community, connecting with alums to grow engagement and support, and creating corporate, community, foundation, and institutional partnerships in the region and across the country.
Brown has demonstrated just the leadership and connectivity approach that will help WPU continue to build partnerships that elevate WPU and its mission to serve students, said WPU President Brian Ralph.
"Dr. Brown's record of fundraising, advancement efforts, and community outreach will help our team and our institution with its growth and improvement plans," Ralph said. "Furthermore, the diversity of her leadership experiences will be a great addition to the Senior Leadership Team as we all work together to advance this incredible University. "
The Vice President for University Advancement serves on the President's Senior Leadership Team and is a strategic partner with the President to raise external resources in support of the University.
Brown said she's excited to become part of the vibrant downtown campus.
"William Peace University is an economic engine in downtown Raleigh, and I am excited about being a part of the Pacers' campus culture," Brown said. "I look forward to partnering with President Ralph and the team in growing and broadening philanthropy and relationships with the Raleigh community."
